The final sendoff!
|
Summer is here! You've worked hard all year. Now take some time for you! Get off those phones and really take in the summer. Get outside, ride a bike, learn a new hobby, take photographs, get a kickball game going in your neighborhood, have a water balloon fight, go to the beach or to the park, check out some of our CT tourist attractions, plant a garden, call a friend to get together with, read a few books, eat fresh summer food, have some ice cream or gelato, go camping, go fishing, go mini-golfing, go to camp, lay in a hammock all afternoon.....because you can!
Have fun. Be safe. We look forward to seeing you all back at MK next school year! |

Kellogg Games: another great year!
I think we all have to agree, Kellogg Games is a great day for all. It is a chance to get out of the classroom and let loose! You can play a team sport, individual sport, board games, do yoga, play yard games, play mini golf, eat watermelon and popsicles...the day is filled with fun. It is a great way to end a year of hard work. Thanks to all the teachers and staff who made the day happen. We look forward to next year!

Featured Teacher: Mrs. Bidwell
You've probably seen her in the halls of 7th grade. Or maybe you saw her dance across the stage as Neleus. She's our newest teacher. She's Mrs. Bidwell.
Mrs. Bidwell teaches 7th grade math. She's a Connecticut girl, growing up in Simsbury but her background is Canadian / Welsh. She loves the outdoors and is a very active person. In her free time, she likes to play the piano, sing, paint her nails (she loves nail art) and spend time with her husband and pets. She has 2 rescues at home: a dog, Rosie, and a kitten, Winnie.
Did you know that Mrs. Bidwell has cousins that live in Munich, Germany? She loves it there. She also hopes to visit France and Italy.
Before Mrs. Bidwell was teaching math, she was a gymnastics coach and a summer camp director at the Farmington Valley YMCA. Although she never had a "dream job" in mind, after she finished her first semester of college, she realized she wanted to be a teacher.
One of the things Mrs. Bidwell loves about MKMS is the PBIS Paws system. She likes to see students rewarded for awesome behavior that exemplifies the MKMS pillars. She does think the rewards can be tailored a bit to be more age-appropriate. "Sometimes the things that are exciting or motivating to a 5th grader are not the same to an 8th grader," she says. Her 7th graders, for example, LOVED being able to earn recess.
If you see Mrs. Bidwell around, be sure to say hi!
